SEO in 2022 : What to Expect

by | Jan 27, 2022

With a new year comes a new plan to take over the world. We’re all sitting in front of our screens, dreaming new dreams for the year, including new ways on how we’ll make our mark online. For a marketer and SEO, this also means re-visiting client strategies, finding the gaps, and filling them with fresh, SEO focused content.

We know that content is a massive piece of any marketing plan, but what else will be important in 2022? Here is our prediction of what SEO will serve up in 2022 and things you will definitely want to include in your marketing strategy.

User Intent

You may have heard this term used loosely in the past, but in 2022, user intent should be centre stage.

With Google on a mission to provide a more personalized experience, creating content that is EXACTLY what users are looking for should top your to-do list.

Does this mean categorizing your audience down to a niche? Maybe. Does it mean addressing all forecasted customer concerns? Yes. Communicating clearly on what you offer? Absolutely.

This will mean studying a keyword from every angle; drawing out long-tail keywords, juicing out all its potential uses and incorporating it into very specific pieces of your strategy.

What Makes You Unique?

Our current environment has individuals creating a lot of the same content based on small wins in the short term

To really future proof your website, you will want to ensure you are providing a unique user experience, with well thought out, long-term content. This may come in the form of a unique UX design or through valuable information that can’t be found anywhere else on the web.

However you approach it, don’t let it be a carbon copy….because you’re not like everyone else. Remember what makes you unique and deliver it to your audience in a way they won’t forget.

Localization

Creating customer profiles is key when aiming to speak directly to them and where someone lives can tell you a ton about a person – what they eat, how they speak, their interests.

That is why if you are a business, especially an online business, catering to the global market, you may want to consider local search terms in your regions of interest. This will help you be seen more easily in the SERPs.

Communicate with your audience based on their location. Local search in 2022 will be favoured by Google.

New Google Rollout, February 2022

Alas, the ever-evolving Google Update. Last year Google rolled out an update that solely focused on the mobile user experience, this year, you guessed it, Google will roll out an update that will be focusing on the desktop experience.

This means that if you want to stay ahead of your competition you will want to keep those loading times, website resources, assets, and response times in check.

Whether you are a small local business or a major enterprise, you’ll want a strategy that mirrors where you want to be. A technical audit is always a great place to start and can provide a clear roadmap to reaching your marketing goals.
