3 Takeaways from the SEO4Life Virtual Conference

by | Apr 8, 2020

On April 2, 2020, Marketing Miners produced SEO4Life, a one-day virtual conference hosted on Twitch. It was organized to provide possibilities to educate and support COVID-19 research through Folding Home. It’s incredible and inspiring to see so many great people come together to create something that will contribute to the world’s fight against this pandemic.

The conference had a solid lineup of speakers, including Aleyda Solis, Kevin Indig, and Martin Splitt. And the topics were as diverse as the presenters, ranging from inclusive marketing to content to Javascript for SEO.

Some of the key highlights:

What are Fraggles & Why Do They Matter? From Cindy Krum:

Google is now indexing pieces of a page separately, with different weighting and signals for each piece of the webpage. Think new and improved Featured Snippets.

Purna Virji with her topic of Your Get-Started Guide to Inclusive Marketing:

Focusing on customer service and putting people first impacts not just the bottom line, but it’s also the right thing to do. You may not be aware of who you’re excluding on your website through visuals, colour choices, and a slew of other features.

From Kevin Indig on the topic of Google shifting from search engine to answer engine:

With the rise of mobile searches and voice search, people no longer have the patience to scroll through a SERP to find what they’re looking for. They want the best answer now and they trust Google to deliver it.

Throughout the 4-hour online conference, each of the eight speakers had some useful wisdom to share. Not only was this an excellent event, but it also helped benefit a worthy cause. I sincerely hope we see more of these conferences to help those who have been impacted by the spread of COVID-19.
